ELUNA 2008 Conference Opens!

The ELUNA 2008 Conference opened tonight with an awesome celebration at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA. Picture this, a beautiful aquarium, open to ELUNA Conference attendees with open bars spread throughout the aquarium. Food "booths" were set throughout the aquarium as well although it did get rather awkward trying to obtain food and drink as initially there were long lines. But the aquarium displays were awesome; my fave, the jellyfish of which there were several displays. (see flickr pics below). It was a fitting end of the day, seeing as many folks had lived through their first and only earthquake experience. Interesting how quickly folks got over having the building sway under their feet.

ELUNA 2008 Who rocked the building?

I was in my room on the 7th floor when I heard the door rattling. At first I thought it was the maid...until I felt the entire building rock back and forth several times! It was very strange...I didn't know what to do. I took the stairs to the lobby and lots of folks were pretty freaked out. There wasn't any panic but for nonCA folks, it was really scary.

But, we all went back to business.

Long Beach is Beautiful.

After a long but tolerable flight I arrived to see that Long Beach is really a lovely place. I toured the Queen Mary which is interesting and a bit spooky.

Today I will attend my sessions for the tech seminar. Also, tonight is the conference reception at the Aquarium which I am looking forward to.

I woke up early and to my dismay, both packages of coffee in my room are decaf!
